Manifesto
This document is to preserve a public record of the beliefs, expectations, and goals that the organization Crimson Desires holds so that there can be no miscommunication in the community and therefore the community can hold Crimson Desires accountable to its word. Our primary objective is to provide a safe space to help people explore themselves and connect with the community.
We live in a world and society that exerts a heteronormative, mononormative, patriarchal doctrine on us all throughout our lives in order to better control us. We are told the rules, regulations, and systems that we must follow or be punished for. Most of us do not fall into those neat boxes. Many of us are not heterosexual, cis-gender, or vanilla. And that is not even getting into how race, religion, and other identities are used to oppress minorities.
At our events we seek to provide freedom from those chains. Try out new genders, learn more about that certain kink you were always curious about, and meet other people on the same journey. Our events do not have gender pricing, and we do not look at gender ratios attending. Your value to us is never what genitals you have. It is how you act as a person. We want people attending our events that will also respect others wherever they are on their own personal journey. Our events are filled with a diversity of sexuality, genders, and kinks.
As expected we welcome gay, lesbian, bisexual/pansexual, and transgender individuals. But we also welcome so much more than that. Individuals on the asexual spectrum such as asexual, demi-sexual, gray-asexual, autosexual, aegosexual, fraysexual, lithosexual, are always welcomed and never shamed at our events. All forms of non-binary genders be it agender, genderfluid, genderqueer, demi-gender, and everybody else along that spectrum are welcomed at our events and should expect their pronouns that day to be respected. Non-monogamous people are just as valid as monogamous ones.
A note on majorities: often when someone with privilege is outnumbered by those without the tables can very quickly feel flipped. Our above rhetoric above might make us sound hostile towards “heterosexual” people or “cis males”. We are absolutely not. All are always welcomed, regardless of identity or sexuality. Just understand that at any given event you might be a minority and that can be uncomfortable the first time that happens. We will always welcome allies or those who have just started exploring their sexuality or identities. Please just be polite and respectful.
That said as much as we want to be welcoming to all we cannot be towards with actively hateful and oppressive ideologies. People that follow the doctrine of Nazis, MAGA, KKK, Proud Boys, Republicans, and other Conservative groups. Following the beliefs of leaders that wish to enslave and genocide the most vulnerable of our community is an active threat to our organization. Such individuals are never welcomed at our events.
While many in our community come from a variety of different backgrounds there is still much we share in common. Those shared interests and values can lead to valuable bonds between people. We hope to foster those. The “loneliness epidemic” of our constantly online culture affects everybody. We want to give people a reason to go out and meet new people in-person. Face-to-face interaction forms connections. These new friendships and partnerships can be mutually beneficial to everybody involved.
The most important value we care about is safety. Consent is mandatory at all times. We follow CRISP (Considered, Reversable, Informed, Specific, Participatory) which is an updated model from FRIES (Freely-Given, Reversible, Informed, Enthusiastic, Specific). We will not tolerate anyone trying to coerce, deceive, or otherwise be manipulative of consent and such actions are bannable offenses. We also encourage all kink safety frameworks such as SSC (Safe, Sane, Consensual), RACK (Risk-Aware, Consensual, Kink), and PRICK (Personal Responsibility, Informed, Consensual, Kink). All kink has inherent risk. There is no such thing as ‘safe sex’, only ‘safer sex’. Our goal though is to minimize harm by helping everyone stay as informed as possible and provide tools to give various safety options.
That being said, everyone is responsible for their own personal risk profile. You decide how much information you need from someone before you play with someone else. This will vary from person to person and can include any number of various factors personal to that person. Nobody has the right to judge someone else’s risk profile. We encourage you to consider various forms of play and come to an agreement about what works within everybody’s risk tolerance. Always respect each other’s boundaries and handle rejection with grace. We pride ourselves on having approachable staff who are helpful and can help in any situation. You will also see signs posted around the rooms at events providing a safe phone number to call or text a member of Crimson Desires staff if you feel uncomfortable talking in person.
We will never ask for STI test results. We do not believe in STI shaming individuals. We encourage you to play responsibly. If you are experiencing any symptoms or have recently tested positive for the following: HIV 1 or 2, HSV 1 or 2, Hepatitis A, B or C, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, BV/Trichomoniasis, or any other sexually transmitted infection then please do not engage in any sexual activity or fluid exchange. Please be transparent about what you have tested positive for and explore non-sexual play with no chance of transmission. Individuals found to be purposefully deceptive about their positive status or showing symptoms will be banned. Anyone shaming another for their STI status will also face potential bans. Note that refusing to play with someone is not shaming. Please speak up if you should feel uncomfortable, unwelcomed or if you have been shamed in any way. There are several sources and people you can reach out to if you are seeking further STI education and unlearning misinformation.
Clear and blatant violations lead to outright bans, but we acknowledge that many infractions exist in a more morally grey and vague judgement zone. We are very conscious of red flags that individuals may have. Remember that a single red flag does not equate a judgement, rather it is something to take into consideration. We are very weary of rumors, false information, and the many forms of miscommunication that can happen between people. We do our best to give everyone a fair chance to show their character. We balance decisions about an individual’s attendance based on all good and bad incidents, traits, and information we have. Never hesitate to report to us any unsafe behavior you observe or hear about, be it at events or elsewhere. Please know we will make the final decision on how to handle each case. No one person has the power to get someone else banned simply because they don’t like them for a personal matter. We cannot promise that there will never be someone attending that you do not like but we will do everything we can to ensure nobody is actively looking to cause harm or be predatory towards others.
Crimson Desires reserves the right to update this document as new goals arise and different problems become apparent. But our core will always be to bring people together in a safe welcoming environment that encourages sexual, gender, and kinky exploration. We are ran by flawed human beings very capable of making many mistakes. Which is why we welcome the community to work with us and provide us feedback in how we can improve our policies and behaviors to better achieve our goals. Please feel free to reach out to us publicly or privately with any questions, concerns, or suggestions. Thank you.
